SORRY!

(Quick sorry before the main sorry, but for some of you, this post isn't going to make much sence)

Once again, I have to begin my post this week with an apology.

I CANNOT BELIEVE, I went for a whole FORTNIGHT (I think) without posting.

Why? Well those of you in the know, will know, those of you not will not.

If you're wondering if you are or not, simply ask yourself if you know me in person or not.

If the answer is 'YES!' then no, sorry but you're not (I hope)

If the answer is 'no :'(' then HOORAH! you are!

I will be taking a break from posting on this blog for the next couple of months, to focus on another project I'm doing.

SORRY!

It's not that I don't care about you only follower I have thank you very much I really appreciate it, no.

It's just that I have been dumped with a HUGE amount of work ON TOP of the huge amount of work involved with 'the project'.

I WILL HOWEVER POST AS MUCH AS I POSSIBLY CAN!!!!!

(BY THE WAY, if the answer was 'YES!' and you DO know, then its past November and nearly Christmas so MERRY CHRISTMAS if I don't speak to you before then, I HOPE I DO!)

And so, those of you 'in the know' will know where to find me for the next 8 weeks and those of you who are not, then JUST TALK TO ME IN REAL LIFE!

I appologise if that didn't make much sence but I am currently writing this AND doing work AND listening to some AMAZING YouTuber's CDs.

Thanks for your support guys,

I WILL BE BACK.

(actually almost crying, WHY?)

Talk to you in a little while.

By the way, why does my browser now show that blogger as the icon of first TV? I only watched it 'cos Charlieissocoollike was on it. I CAN SEE WHY HE LEFT!

Fame

Hey guys,

Now look, first off an apology, I know I'm 6 days late with my post. I had been planning to do it for a while, but it has just been a hectic week.

Sorry.

So, next onto WHY I was late; (it does tie in, I PROMISE) so among other things, I decided I would try my hand at making a ye olde YouTube video. I instantly take my metaphorical hat and anything else metaphorical off, to all YouTubers, especially the unsuccessful ones.

This is for many reasons, firstly because of how blooming difficult it is!(yes I said blooming, I wasn't saying that to myself believe me!) Secondly because of how fudging long a video takes to upload, and finally to all those who don't get the exposure they desire, because of how disheartening it can be.

Now I know you want to know where you can find this most amazing video wot took me like forever and stuff, and the answer is, nowhere.

That's right, after all that time, I decided to scrap it and start again.

BUT,

Ask me where you can find it again on Wednesday and I may give you another answer.

Oh I am dreadfully sorry I'm rambling.

Fame... fame... fame...

OH!

Yes.

So I decided to talk about fame this week because with my new found interest in YouTube (it's not new found, I've had an account for 2 years) I decided that I would have a look at the most subscribed people on this new fangled website.

Well I didn't quite know how to feel about what I found.

On the one hand, THANK GOODNESS there are some people in this world who can be 'famous' through talent, and aren't just related to someone who was friends with someone who knew someone who could juggle.

On the other hand, there are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many people who DON'T get any recognition for their brilliant talents.

Whilst I feel that YouTube is a brilliant platform for people of any ages to showcase themselves to the world, it is so seemingly easy to become a star now, more and more people are aspiring to fame and are being disappointed when their dreams don't become reality in the scale that they were expecting.

This argument is perhaps not the one you were expecting from me, as many people know me as being 'the one who makes a big deal out of everything', paparazzi and treating famous people as animals is one of those topics which I don't often discuss as it's assumed that I find it in extremely bad taste and hypocritical. So with the title of fame, it may have been assumed that I was going to have this rant.

Instead I'd like to send my sincerest apologies to those who are so often bitterly disappointed at their lack of viewership (is that a word?), not because they don't do great stuff, but because they can't get themselves seen.

Related to this, is the topic of our insignificance in the universe.

I suppose that if you look at it one way, being seen by thousands of people, makes your life worth living. But on the bleaker side, those thousands of people are just as insignificant as you.

This is a view that some philosophers take, but surly it doesn't matter about the rest of the universe, all that matters is what is happening in OUR little world (or at least it seems that way sometimes).

And so, my thought for this blog, is one of acceptance. Acceptance of yourself, and of things we can't change (doesn't mean we can't try though).

Acceptance though, is VERY different to putting up with something. Acceptance is about really looking for the things that you are happy with in your life and allowing them to be (I know, I know, I sound like a hippy).

Not everyone can be famous (otherwise there'd be no such thing!), and besides, fame costs!

Everyone always judges famous people, even if they don't want to.

We feel that famous people have to live up to the person set by their fame (either a character or a personality) and it is extraordinarily difficult for them to do so every hour of every day.

Another song quote coming up!

'Always look on the bright side of life...'

(Listen to the whole song, it'll cheer you up)

And one last thing.

See the problem with me writing this post 6 days late, means that I've got to write another one tomorrow!

Lucky you!

Be as happy as you can,

Phil.

Quick update from within sunny Tenerife!

Hey there PEEPS!

Oh, that's new, that's a new thing of mine now is it? Peeps? Ok. Right. So. WOW! That is a really WEIRD saying. HMMMM, though I suppose its better than, wad up biatches?

Anyway.

OH! Couple of things to warn you about before I actually begin my post. I'm writing this on a Spanish keyboard which ANNOYINGLY much like some of the tourists in the surrounding area, won't let me type brackets! So I'll just do it in italics instead. Oh and by the way, the tourists are annoying, they WILL let me type brackets. I assume. Perhaps I should ask. There see, I actually rather prefer that.

ANYWAY!

Why did I create this post, apart from the obvious reason that I am trying to give my parents a break from the constant ramblings, and so am inflicting them on you instead. I must apologise if any of this seems like complete and utter nonsense, but I am in a spanish speaking frame of mind and so nothings in the correct order. Couple that with an annoyingly talented but at the same time cheesy in equal measure band playing so deviously catchy tunes that I am singing along to in my HEAD thank goodness! as well as sitting in some far to comfortable chairs, and the fact that I am being bugged by my parents to hurry up so I can go for a NON)alcoholic cocktail and my need for a late night swim. UNIQUE!!!!

I just found the bracket key! It's replaced the dash. EVERYTHINGS IN THE WRONG ORDER!

Why is the DIGITAL grandfather clock 4 minutes late?

See this is why I shouldn't be such a close follower of Derren Brown, I start noticing these things.

DERREN BROWN! Why bring him up, well as I'm sure that you think that I'm simply slacking off swimming at night and drinking non alcoholic cocktails with a bracket instead of a dash, I thought I'd put things right.

I am IN FACT swimming at night drinking non alcoholic cocktails BUT also reading the Derren Brown book which I recently received for my birthday it was lovely thank you and doing my best to remember as many nouns as possible with the techniques taught.

Th0ugh not all at the same time.

That might be fun.

Maybe I should try that!

I also learned how to hypnotise someone from the book last night.

Can't wait to try it out on one of you guys.

Well better go, a VERY warm and salty sea water pool hand in hand with embarrassment and a non alcoholic cocktail with a bracket instead of a dash beckon.

Just before I go, I MUST mention our tour guide for the day.

He took just the 3 of us around the WHOLE island in a car on a 7 hour tour.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!

And was a huge help with my Spanish!!!!

So Leon, THANK YOU! And a very good luck with your business.

If you're ever planning a trip to Tenerife, Elegant Excursions are the way to go.

Hope the leaflets come back ok on Monday!

Thanks for reading peeps or biatches if you would prefer.

Phil.

Self-Esteem

Hi Everyone,

Well this week, I've posted a day early (yes I know it's a day early, I just said that! Well don't read it until tomorrow then!), anyway, as I was saying, we're off Jet setting around the world tomorrow (Tenerife to be precise) and my laptop decided to split itself in half two days before hand. Therefore I won't be able to write this from a busy airport with people constantly looking over my shoulder and staring at this new contraption called a computer. OH NO WHAT A SHAME (!)

Well enough about my EXCITING lifestyle and constant fun, now to get onto the good stuff.

THE GOOD STUFF!

This week I'm talking (to myself) about self-esteem, why choose this topic, well because of the debate I recently had with my family about swimming in the pool. (When I say debate what I really mean is me sitting reading my book and simply saying 'no' or 'I'm not doing it'. What were they jabbering on about continuously in my ear for 20 minutes? The fact that I didn't want to go swimming in the hotel pool. Although I probably will (don't tell them that they were right, they don't read this) go for the odd swim, the reason I didn't want to was because of self-esteem.

Not because of my swimming ability (it’s not TOO bad), not because of the HIDEOUS swimming shorts I had to purchase (you know what it's like) no, none of these things were the main cause. The main cause was my view of myself. I may be the fattest or the thinnest person in the world, the ugliest, most beautiful, tallest, shortest, fashionable or unfashionable person in the world, it doesn't matter, what matters to ME is how I see myself.

How I see myself is probably HUGELY incorrect, but along with the majority of the population, I refuse to do anything about it. Of course, one of the most prominent features for both boys and girls, men and women, is weight. There are plenty of things we can do about our ACTUAL weight, but very few about the weight in our head (and I'm not talking about having a MASSIVE head or brain, you know like Stewie Griffin).

Another way that people can lack self-esteem is not having the confidence to perform or even just simple interact with people. I'm not talking about conditions such as Autism which actually PREVENT you from interacting, I'm talking about being just plain shy!

So why is it that SOOOOOOO many people lack self-esteem? Well I suppose that's up to what you think, but personally I think that it's the obvious source 'the media'. Sometimes though, it can be all too easy to blame 'the media' I think that society as a whole is to blame, partly out of being worried for our health, but also I feel that society can be quite selfish. Not thinking about other's feelings or the consequences of what's happening.

Why is it that we feel that we need to conform to society's boundaries and templates for us?

YOU ARE YOU, AND THAT'S GREAT!

So what's the solution to all this?

Well I recently read an interesting point from Derren Brown, in which he talked about a conversation he had once had with a friend who was very self conscious about a skin complaint that he had. He spoke about how embarrassing it was. Derren´s reply to him was that, he did not think so. Yes you could see he had eczema but you didn´t define your view of him by that. It is for others to decide about whether we look good or not. Whether something is embarrassing or not, and whether we should be embarrassed.

Although this is a rather excellent point, many of us, either think we don´t care what other people think, or think that other people think that we look bad.

And as a wise drug taking woman once said: 'AND IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEIIIIIIIII WILLL ALWAYS LOOOOOOVVEEEE YOOOOOUUUUU!!!!' no sorry, that's the wrong one, erm hang on...

....

OH YES!

' I believe the children are our are future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside. Give them a sense of pride to make it easier' 'I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows' 'No matter what they take from me.They can't take away my dignity' 'Learning to love yourself It is the greatest love of all'

And on that note (or as that annoying and yet slightly addictive and you hate yourself for it named Jeremy Clarkson would say 'BOMBSHELL'!) I must leave you to 'THINK ABOUT WHAT I'VE SAID' and so that I can go and pack.

Just one more quick point, although lack of self-esteem can be crippling for people of all ages, it can (in some situations) work to your advantage to a certain extent, and work as a motivational tool. Though that doesn´t mean in most cases, this is in just a few.

Self-esteem is a terribly personal and destructive topic and so please, do what you can to help both others and yourself improve their self-esteem.

Thanks for reading, leave your comments about what boosts your self-esteem, (it will prove to me that there is someone out there, reading this page) THAT WILL BOOST MY SELF-ESTEEM! See what i did there!

Phil.

EDIT: I would like to thank Charlotte who said that this blog was AMAZING and gave ME a confidence boost, and so I suppose that this just supports Derren´s point again.

I´m liking the new look SARAH!!!

The First One!

Hi there everyone!

First off, if you're one of those highly interesting and not just a little bit sad people who read people's profiles, you will have noticed that I said that I was going to 'rock the boat'. In my defence I wrote that about a year ago, and just haven't gotten round to writing one UNTIL NOW!

I should have probably waited untill my birthday TOMOROW to start, so that it would be a new year in my life, but 'why put off till tomorow, what you can do today'!

So this is me writing a blog.

People always say that Blogs are a completely new and much better thing, well no, not when you don't have any readers (well except for you!) they're not! I find blogs are much like a very complicated and interesting conversation between two or more intillectual people. In conversations like this, there is always a spark which sets off one idea, and other conversations build off of that. On a blog, there is one person, probably (in my case) talking to him or herself trying DESPERATLY to come up with an interesting conversation topic.

DID I MENTION ITS MY BIRTHDAY TOMOROW?

I can't make any promises that I'll post every week, or that I'll be any good, but what I can promise is...

....

errr.....

well nothing, no promises, so log on each week, to see if I've posted, it's sort of a luck of the draw type blog! (not quite as fun as it sounds).

You could also follow me on Twitter, which is, sort of like a mini blog and believe me the regularity of my updates is about equal to Stephen Fry's. (a little joke there, don't get your hopes up I'm really not that funny all of the time).

Well I think that I've probably rambled on enough for this post. Any ideas for my next one, 'cause if the next one is anything like this one, my viewing figures will slowly start to decend into minus figures.

Thanks for reading! (oh by the way, it's my birthday tomorow, I assume the card's in the post!)
